About the Role

Our client is seeking a detail-oriented and highly organised Assistant Bookkeeper to take full ownership of their collections administration function while supporting the finance team with day‑to‑day bookkeeping duties. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a structured environment, enjoys working with numbers, and can confidently manage administrative and financial processes with accuracy and efficiency.

Responsibilities

Collections and debtors administration

  • Manage the full collections administration function, including tracking outstanding accounts and following up with clients
  • Maintain accurate debtor records and ensure timely resolution of queries
  • Prepare and distribute statements, reminders, and relevant supporting documents

Bookkeeping and finance support

  • Assist with the preparation of monthly management accounts
  • Capture and reconcile financial transactions across multiple accounts
  • Record and manage journal entries with precision
  • Support month‑end and year‑end financial processes
  • Work closely with the finance team to ensure smooth daily operations

General administration

  • Coordinate administrative tasks to support office and operational efficiency
  • Maintain organised filing systems and ensure proper documentation
  • Liaise with internal teams and external stakeholders professionally and effectively

Requirements

  • A relevant qualification in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
  • 3-5 years' experience in collections/debtors administration
  • 3-5 years' proven proficiency in accounting software (Pastel and Excel) and strong understanding of finance processes
  • Ability to accurately capture and process journal entries
  • Strong organisational, multitasking, and time‑management skills
  • High level of attention to detail and accuracy in all financial and administrative tasks
  • Experience in the insurance industry will be a strong advantage
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
